Do you know that we are on the verge of a new displacement from Gaza to the south? We need $1,000 each to be able to flee, and those who cannot afford this amount may face death here. We are forced to leave, yet there is no place for us in southern Gaza.
Do you know that people have been forced to live in cemeteries, hospitals, bombed-out buildings, public streets, even in clubs and shops?
Do you know that families carry their children in their arms not knowing where to go?
Do you know that every step of displacement is an escape from death to another kind of death?
Do you know that our children sleep on sidewalks without a blanket, and wake up to the sounds of bombardment instead of birds?
Do you know that displacement has become an expensive dream, and survival a privilege not everyone can afford?
