News from Gaza was created by Melanie Mallon, a freelance editor and writer in Minnesota trying to increase awareness about what is happening in Gaza under Israel’s occupation and genocide, in hopes that readers will be not only informed but moved to help Palestinians survive through donations and by sharing their stories.
The current Israeli government has forbidden journalists from entering the occupied region, and as of this writing (August 19, 2025), IDF has murdered almost 270 journalists in Gaza. They clearly do not want anyone seeing what they are doing to the Palestinian people, but Palestinian voices will not be silenced.
